What do you think of NYC ban on super sized soft drinks

I think the ban is great, in that now perhaps children will not be gulping down mass amounts of high sugar content soda pop loaded with caffeine. Caffeine is a drug so why is it so easy for children to obtain? The problem is nobody wants the government in their kitchen but the government doesn want to keep shelling out money for these programs intended to educated people to a better healthier way of life. Health care for people is astronomical especially since certain types of long term illnesses are avoidable if only people would take better care of their bodies.

Education has always been key in changing behavior but that education can only go so far because marketing and fast food restaurants do not back up that education. Places like fast food restaurants should raise the price of soda pop and lower the price of milk, all natural fruit juices and bottled water should be free. These kinds of changes will have a greater effect on the average individual who is going to treat their family.

I agree with Animal_World that people have lost their sense of self control. People have given up their common sense and look to marketers and governments to tell them what they should or shouldn eat. This is evident every time a "new" diet hits the information super highway.
